Preparation:
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human EPO. Anti-Human EPO-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography employing an immobilized Human EPO matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human EPO by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Human EPO (500-P318Bt) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human EPO.

Western Blot:
To detect Human EPO by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human EPO is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Erythropoietin (EPO) protein is a growth factor essential for the survival, proliferation, and differentiation of erythroid precursors. EPO induces the final maturation of partially differentiated erythroid cells and promotes production of red cell-specific proteins such as hemoglobin.
The EPO receptor (EPOR) is highly expressed in precursor cells and decreases with maturation. Hepatocytes are the main source of EPO in the fetus, while renal interstitial cells become the major source after birth. EPO expression increases under hypoxic conditions and is also detected in lung and brain tissue.
Recent studies suggest EPO may contribute to neuronal tissue protection and repair.
