Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. It catalyzes the reversible transfer of phosphate between ATP and phosphogens such as creatine phosphate. In the brain and other tissues, it acts as a homodimer, and in the heart, as a heterodimer with a muscle isozyme. It belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase protein family. A pseudogene of this gene has also been characterized.
