Target Information
CHP2 (Calcineurin B homologous protein 2), also known as Hepatocellular carcinoma-associated antigen 520, is a 196 amino acid protein containing four EF-hand domains. It plays a potential role in transmembrane Na⁺/H⁺ exchange by binding to and activating NHE-1, increasing intracellular pH and protecting cells from serum deprivation-induced death. CHP2 is not typically detected in normal tissues but is highly expressed in malignantly transformed cells, making it a tumor-associated antigen. Overexpression of CHP2 promotes proliferation of HEK293 cells, while knockdown in HepG2 cells inhibits proliferation. Like calcineurin B, CHP2 binds and stimulates calcineurin A phosphatase activity, activating the calcineurin/NFAT signaling pathway.
