Target Information
WW domain-containing transcription regulator protein 1 (WWTR1) is a transcriptional coactivator acting as a downstream target in the Hippo signaling pathway, which regulates organ size and tumor suppression by controlling proliferation and apoptosis.
This pathway involves kinase cascades (STK3/MST2, STK4/MST1, LATS1/2, MOB1) that modulate YAP1 and WWTR1/TAZ activity. WWTR1 enhances gene activation (PAX8, NKX2-1/TTF1), regulates SMAD nuclear accumulation, and contributes to stem-cell self-renewal, proliferation, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition.
