Product Specific Information
- Detects endogenous protein at molecular weights of 59, 70, and 85 kDa.
- Also detects p85 S6 kinase when phosphorylated at Thr444.
- Purity >95% by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. p70 S6 kinase is mainly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a key role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, cell motility, immune response, and tissue repair. It acts downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, targeting the S6 ribosomal protein to enhance protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Overexpression and gene amplification of p70 S6 kinase have been observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
