Avpr2는 arginine vasopressin과 neurophysin 2, copeptin으로 구성된 전구 단백질입니다.
Arginine vasopressin은 시상하부의 시각교차상핵(supraoptic nucleus)과 실방핵(paraventricular nucleus)에서 합성되는 후엽 뇌하수체 호르몬으로, neurophysin 2와 함께 신경분비 소포에 포장되어 신경후엽으로 수송됩니다.
이 과정에서 활성화되며, 신장에서 항이뇨 작용을 하고 말초 혈관을 수축시킵니다. 또한 분만과 수유 중 평활근 수축, 인지, 적응, 성적 및 모성 행동, 수분 배설 및 심혈관 기능 조절에도 관여합니다.
Avpr2의 활성은 G 단백질에 의해 매개되며, adenylate cyclase를 활성화합니다.
