Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
SOD1 (superoxide dismutase) binds copper and zinc ions and is one of two isozymes responsible for destroying free superoxide radicals in the body. This soluble cytoplasmic enzyme acts as a homodimer to convert harmful superoxide radicals into molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide. The other isozyme is mitochondrial. Mutations in this gene are associated with familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Rare transcript variants have also been reported.
