Target Information

DCAMKL1 (DCLK1, doublecortin-like kinase 1) is a serine/threonine kinase containing two N-terminal doublecortin domains that bind microtubules and regulate their polymerization. It also includes a C-terminal serine/threonine protein kinase domain homologous to Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase and a central serine/proline-rich region mediating multiple protein-protein interactions.
DCLK1 can undergo autophosphorylation and exhibits microtubule-polymerizing activity independent of its kinase function. It is involved in neuronal migration, retrograde transport, apoptosis, and neurogenesis.
