Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The ligand-receptor interaction determines whether the receptor forms a homodimer or heterodimer with PDGFRα and PDGFRβ subunits. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, adjacent to the granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and macrophage-colony stimulating factor receptor genes, all potentially involved in the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 can lead to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
