Description:
The monoclonal antibody CC1 recognizes CD66a (CEACAM1), also known as carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1, biliary glycoprotein (BGP). CD66a is expressed on brush borders, epithelial, and endothelial cells. In hematopoietic cells, expression is abundant on B cells, NK cells, monocytes, DCs, and granulocytes.

In mice, resting T lymphocytes do not express CD66a, as confirmed by lack of staining with CC1 antibody. CD66a expression levels have been used to identify malignancies in humans and play a regulatory role in BCR activation of B lymphocytes.

An alternate allele, CEACAM1b, is expressed in SJL mice; therefore, CC1 does not stain SJL tissue.

The monoclonal CC1 antibody has been shown to block viral infection and enhance B cell proliferation when combined with IgM crosslinking.

Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes at ≤ 0.06 µg/test (100 µL final volume; 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

CEACAM1 (CD66a) belongs to the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family within the immunoglobulin superfamily.
It functions as a cell adhesion molecule expressed on leukocytes, epithelial, and endothelial cells, mediating both homophilic and heterophilic interactions.

Biological roles include:

• Regulation of tissue differentiation and 3D structure
• Angiogenesis and apoptosis
• Tumor suppression and metastasis regulation
• Modulation of innate and adaptive immune responses

Multiple transcript variants and isoforms have been reported, with two full-length forms identified.
