Target Information

Zika virus (ZIKV), a member of the Flaviviridae family, possesses a single positive-sense RNA genome that is initially translated as one polyprotein. This polyprotein is cleaved post-translationally into three structural proteins (C, PrM/M, E) and seven nonstructural proteins (NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4A, NS4B, NS5).

The glycosylated NS1 forms a homodimer inside cells and is essential for viral replication during late infection stages. NS1 is also secreted into the extracellular space as a hexameric lipoprotein particle, aiding immune evasion and pathogenesis by interacting with innate and adaptive immune system components.
