MARCKS는 protein kinase C의 기질로, 세포막에 위치하며 actin filament를 교차 결합하는 단백질입니다. Protein kinase C에 의해 인산화되거나 calcium-calmodulin 결합 시 actin 및 세포막과의 결합이 억제되어 세포질 내 존재하게 됩니다.
세포 이동성, 식세포작용, 막 수송 및 유사분열 등의 과정에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
