Target Information
The DDX3 protein belongs to the DEAD-box protein family, characterized by the conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif and ATP-dependent RNA helicase activity. It exhibits high RNA-independent ATPase activity and is stimulated by both RNA and DNA. DDX3 functions in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, participating in transcriptional regulation, mRNP assembly, pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA export, translation, cellular signaling, and viral replication. Dysregulation of this gene has been linked to tumorigenesis. It has a paralog on the Y chromosome (DDX3Y), and pseudogenes are found on chromosome 4 and the X chromosome. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
