This antibody recognises the rat RT1Bu/Du MHC class II antigen and cross-reacts with haplotypes c, d, l, and n. It stains MHC class II molecules in several rat strains, including PVG, F334, LEW, and BN, but is not reactive with RT1a haplotype rats (e.g., Wistar rats).
Additionally, it cross-reacts with murine I-A and I-E molecules of all haplotypes tested (H-2b, d, f, k), making it applicable to all mouse strains.

Target Information

MHC (major histocompatibility complex) class II molecules are transmembrane glycoproteins expressed on the surface of professional antigen-presenting cells such as macrophages, dendritic cells, and B cells.
Before appearing on the cell surface, MHC class II molecules bind endocytosed exogenous antigens, which are then presented to T cells. The antigen-binding groove between MHC class II alpha and beta chains is open at both ends and accommodates peptides of 15–24 amino acids.
HLA and MHC antibodies are essential in Immunopeptidomics, enabling the identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
