Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for murine MHC class I and binds to polymorphic H-2 determinants expressed on most haplotypes. It can bind all H-2 class I molecules independent of allele and recognizes a determinant distinct from those detected by most common mouse monoclonal anti-H-2 antibodies.
Target Information
Like mammalian counterparts, avian MHC Class I molecules (B-F antigens) consist of a highly polymorphic alpha-chain noncovalently bound to the invariant beta2-microglobulin subunit. MHC Class I molecules are expressed on most nucleated cells and present endogenously synthesized antigenic peptides to CD8+ T lymphocytes, which are typically cytotoxic T cells. The monoclonal antibody F21-2 also reacts with turkey MHC Class I.
HLA and MHC antibodies play a significant role in Immunopeptidomics, aiding identification and characterization of neoantigens through high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry.
