Product Specific Information
- Specificity: Recognizes amino acids 38–51 (GDGMVPPGIEDKIT) of the PLAG domain of mouse podoplanin (PDPN).
- Affinity: High affinity and specificity for the MAP epitope tag (GDGMVPPGIEDK).
- Preparation: Generated by immunizing rats with synthetic peptide mpp3851 (aa 38–51 of PDPN), followed by fusion of spleen cells with P3U1 cells to create stable hybridomas.
Target Information
Podoplanin (PDPN, T1A, gp38, Aggrus) is a mucin-type glycoprotein (~40–43 kDa) expressed in various tumors and normal cells, notably lymphatic epithelial and follicular dendritic cells. It localizes in stromal cells of lymphoid tissue and thymic epithelium.
Podoplanin functions as a ligand for CLEC-2 and correlates with tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential. It is involved in cell migration, metastasis formation, and tissue invasion.
Expression is regulated via Src activation of Cas and has been observed on Th17 cells and a subset of CD4+ PBMCs. Dysfunctions are associated with diseases such as lymphangioma and subglottis neoplasm.
Podoplanin is also proposed as a marker for lung injury due to its physiological roles.
