Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

GFAP (Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein) is a class III intermediate filament protein predominantly expressed in astrocytes and certain astroglia of the central nervous system, as well as in satellite cells of peripheral ganglia and non-myelinating Schwann cells. Neural stem cells also strongly express GFAP.
Antibodies against GFAP are valuable markers for astrocytic cells and are widely used in neuroscience and pathology research. GFAP expression is common in various brain tumors derived from astrocytic cells, and it is also detected in lens epithelium, Kupffer cells, salivary tumors, and erythrocytes.
Mutations in the GFAP gene are associated with Alexander disease, a rare astrocytic disorder. Alternative splicing of GFAP results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
