Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase involved in bone remodeling and resorption.
It belongs to the peptidase C1 family and is predominantly expressed in osteoclasts.
It is also expressed in a significant fraction of human breast cancers, potentially contributing to tumor invasiveness.
Mutations in this gene cause pycnodysostosis, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by osteosclerosis and short stature.
This gene may be subject to RNA editing.
