Target Information

PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor’s ligand binding determines whether it forms homodimers or heterodimers with PDGF receptor alpha. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, near genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, all potentially implicated in 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 that fuses PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
