Target Information
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are involved in various cellular processes that alter RNA secondary structure, including translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Some family members are associated with embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division.
This gene encodes a DEAD box protein functioning as an RNA-dependent ATPase and proliferation-associated nuclear antigen, specifically reacting with the simian virus 40 tumor antigen. It consists of 13 exons, and alternatively spliced transcripts containing intron sequences have been detected, though no isoforms have been identified.
