cGAS (Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase)는 ATP와 GTP로부터 cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP)를 형성하는 뉴클레오티딜트랜스퍼레이스로, 선천면역에서 중요한 역할을 합니다.
cGAS는 세포질 DNA에 직접 결합하여 cGAMP 합성을 유도하고, 이는 TMEM173/STING을 활성화시켜 type-I interferon 생산을 유도합니다.
또한 세균 감염, 세포 스트레스, DNA 손상, 세포 노화 조절 등 다양한 면역 감지 과정에 관여합니다.
