Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated in response to various extracellular stimuli, including cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses.
ASK1 (Apoptosis Signal-Regulating Kinase 1) activates MAPKKs MKK4 and MKK6, which in turn activate JNK and p38 MAP kinases, respectively.
ASK1 is activated by TNFR and Fas through interaction with TRAF family members and Daxx. Overexpression induces apoptosis, while inactive ASK1 inhibits TNF-α-induced apoptosis. It is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
