This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD140a / PDGF-RA, the 170 kDa alpha chain of platelet-derived growth factor receptor. It is widely expressed on various mesenchymal-derived cells and plays pro-proliferative or anti-proliferative roles in different tumor types.
Target Information
PDGFRA is a cell surface receptor tyrosine kinase that binds members of the platelet-derived growth factor family. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The identity of the bound growth factor determines whether the functional receptor forms as a homodimer or heterodimer (alpha and beta chains). Knockout studies in mice indicate that the alpha receptor is essential for kidney development, as heterozygous mice exhibit defective kidney phenotypes.
