Target Information
Aurora kinases associate with microtubules during chromosome movement and segregation. AURKB (Aurora B) localizes to microtubules near kinetochores, specifically to K-fibers. This complex functions in chromosome alignment, separation, histone modification, and cytokinesis. The chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) includes INCENP, survivin, and borealin, which regulate AurB activity, localization, and stability. Two CPC forms exist during mitosis: one with all four members and another with INCENP and AurB. AurB is overexpressed in several tumors, including breast and colon cancers, and may interact with Aurora-A kinase through a feedback mechanism.
