Product Specific Information

The SER-4 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD169 (Sialoadhesin, Siglec-1), a 185-kDa member of the Siglec family that recognizes sialylated glycans. CD169 is expressed on macrophages in spleen, liver, lymph node, and bone marrow, and can also be found on monocytes. It mediates cell-cell adhesion and internalization of sialylated viruses and bacteria, enabling antigen presentation to iNKT cells and activation. Interaction with regulatory T cells can inhibit their proliferation.

The SER-4 antibody has reported antagonist activity.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Flow cytometric analysis of mouse bone marrow cells at ≤0.25 µg/test. A test corresponds to 100 µL final volume with 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

Siglecs are membrane-bound lectins (immunoglobulin superfamily) that bind sialic acid and mediate cell-cell interactions. Members include sialoadhesin, CD22, and CD33. Sialoadhesin is a macrophage-specific adhesion molecule expressed on activated macrophages in chronic inflammation and tumors.
