Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of MSK1 only when phosphorylated at Serine 376.

Target Information

RPS6KA5 (MSK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase essential for the regulation of various cellular processes. It is required for the mitogen- or stress-induced phosphorylation of transcription factors such as CREB1 and ATF1, and for regulation of RELA, STAT3, and ETV1/ER81. MSK1 contributes to gene activation by histone phosphorylation and plays a role in inflammatory gene regulation. It phosphorylates CREB1 and ATF1 in response to stimuli such as UV-C irradiation, EGF, and anisomycin. MSK1 also regulates RELA transcriptional activity in response to TNF and glucocorticoid signaling, associates with the glucocorticoid receptor NR3C1, and represses inflammatory gene expression. In skeletal myoblasts, it is required for RELA phosphorylation at Ser-276 during oxidative stress, and in erythropoietin-stimulated cells, it is necessary for STAT3 Ser-727 phosphorylation and transcriptional regulation.
