This antibody detects endogenous levels of SNAIL only when phosphorylated at Serine 246.
Target Information
Zinc finger protein SNAI1 (SNAIL) is a zinc finger transcriptional repressor that downregulates the expression of ectodermal genes within the mesoderm and functions in mesoderm and neural crest formation. SNAI1 is implicated in tumor invasion through E-cadherin downregulation and induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In human breast cancer, expression of SNAI1 and/or the homologous SNAI2 (Slug) correlates with E-cadherin repression, metastasis, tumor recurrence, and poor prognosis. Snail 1 protein in stroma may serve as a potential prognostic marker for colon tumors.
