Mouse anti-Sheep CD14 monoclonal antibody, clone VPM66 recognizes ovine CD14, a GPI-anchored approximately 55 kDa membrane glycoprotein and monocyte/macrophage differentiation antigen belonging to the lipopolysaccharide receptor family.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on the surface of mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and exists in both membrane-bound and soluble forms. CD14 binds lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in a reaction catalyzed by lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), aiding in immune recognition of bacterial components. Soluble CD14 (sCD14) discriminates structural variations in LPS and contributes to neutralization of serum lipopolysaccharides. CD14 also binds apoptotic cells and influences allergic, inflammatory, and infectious responses. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform. CD14 dysfunction has been linked to mycobacterium chelonae infection and Croup.
