Product Specific Information

The TS2/9 antibody recognizes human CD58 (Lymphocyte Associated Antigen-3, LFA-3).
CD58 exists as both transmembrane and GPI-linked extracellular forms, which can be co-expressed on cells. Soluble CD58 has also been detected in serum, urine, and synovial fluid of rheumatoid arthritis patients.

CD58 is expressed on non-hematopoietic and most hematopoietic cells. Binding to its ligand CD2 on T cells initiates signaling cascades leading to cytokine release. CD58 plays roles in cell adhesion, T cell activation, cytokine production, and cytotoxicity.

The TS2/9 antibody can induce signaling upon crosslinking, with the epitope located in domain 1 of the immunoglobulin region.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and validated for flow cytometry using normal peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein acts as a ligand for CD2 on T lymphocytes and is involved in adhesion and activation of T cells. It is localized to the plasma membrane, and alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
