The eBioKAT-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD54 (ICAM-1), a 95 kDa member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. CD54 is expressed at low levels on leukocytes and high endothelial venules, with expression increasing in response to inflammatory cytokines. ICAM-1 binds to LFA-1, a key interaction required for T cell transendothelial migration. ICAM-1-deficient mice show reduced leukocyte migration to inflammation sites, leading to impaired immune responses.
This antibody recognizes a different epitope than the YN1/1.7.4 monoclonal antibody.

Target Information
ICAM-1 (CD54) is an 85–110 kDa single-chain type 1 integral membrane glycoprotein with five immunoglobulin-like extracellular domains, a transmembrane region, and a cytoplasmic domain. It contains seven potential N-linked glycosylation sites and shares sequence homology with ICAM-2 (CD102) and ICAM-3 (CD50). ICAM-1 binds to integrins CD11a/CD18 (LFA-1) and CD11b/CD18 (Mac-1), and serves as a receptor for Rhinovirus.
ICAM-1 is expressed on activated endothelial cells, epithelial cells, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils. Expression increases upon inflammation and is also observed in some carcinoma and melanoma cells. Soluble ICAM-1 is detectable in plasma and elevated in inflammatory conditions.
