Target Information

CDCA8 is a component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) required for stability of the bipolar mitotic spindle. The CPC, including Survivin, CDCA8, INCENP, and Aurora-B, plays crucial roles in mitosis and cell division.
CDCA8 interacts with Aurora-B, INCENP, and Survivin, increasing during G2/M phase and decreasing after M phase. It is cell-cycle regulated, down-regulated by p53/Rb signaling, and up-regulated in various cancers.
In Drosophila, CDCA8 inactivation leads to polyploidy, delayed mitosis, and abnormal tissue development, underscoring its role in cell proliferation.
CDCA8 is essential for early embryonic development, and its aberrant expression correlates with poor prognosis in gastric cancer.
