Target Information

The KISS1 gene acts as a metastasis suppressor, reducing metastases of melanomas and breast carcinomas without affecting tumorigenicity. The encoded protein may inhibit chemotaxis and invasion, attenuating metastasis in malignant melanomas.
Kisspeptin regulates gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)-induced gonadotropin secretion and pubertal activation of GnRH neurons.
A polymorphism in the terminal exon causes two isoforms; when adenosine is absent, a downstream stop codon extends the protein by seven amino acids.
