Product Specific Information
MA1-10891 detects Heat Shock Protein 70/Heat Shock Cognate Protein 70 in human, mouse, rat, rabbit, monkey, hamster, guinea pig, dog, bovine, sheep, pig, chicken, yeast, fish, and Xenopus samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and immunohistochemistry procedures.
By Western blot, MA1-10891 is specific for the ~72 kDa Heat Shock Protein 70/Heat Shock Cognate Protein 70 protein.
The immunogen is chicken Hsp70/Hsp90 complex.
Target Information
The HSP70 family consists of highly conserved proteins induced by various biological stresses, including heat stress, across all examined organisms.
Human HSP70 family members include:
- HSP70: Strongly inducible and constitutively expressed in primate cells
- HSP72: 72 kDa protein induced exclusively under stress conditions
- HSC70 (Cognate Protein): 72 kDa, constitutively expressed, involved in uncoating of clathrin-coated vesicles
- GRP78 (BiP): 78 kDa, located in the endoplasmic reticulum
- p75 (HSP75): 75 kDa, localized in mitochondria
HSC70 (also known as HSC71, HSC73, HSP73, p72, prp73) is constitutively expressed and slightly heat-inducible.
It binds to clathrin light chain loops to promote uncoating, interacts with the cytoskeleton to aid rearrangements, and stimulates lysosomal degradation of intracellular proteins while preventing aggregation of mitochondrial precursor proteins in vitro.
