Target Information
SPACA3 (sperm acrosome associated 3), also known as sperm lysozyme-like protein 1, lysozyme-like protein 3, or cancer/testis antigen 54 (CT54), is a 215 amino acid protein involved in sperm–egg plasma membrane adhesion and fusion during fertilization.
It is expressed in testis, placenta, and epididymis, and exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms — isoform 1 (membrane-associated) and isoform 2 (secreted).
SPACA3 is identified as a novel cancer/testis antigen capable of eliciting B-cell immune responses, making it a potential target for immunotherapy.
The processed form lacks bacteriolytic activity in vitro.
