Target Information
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A, CTLA-8) is a CD4⁺ T cell-derived cytokine that promotes inflammatory responses and is elevated in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection.
IL-17A is a 32 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer of 136 amino acids and signals through the IL-17 receptor (IL-17R/CDw217).
It stimulates epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblastic cells to secrete IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE₂, and enhances ICAM-1 expression in fibroblasts.
In the presence of IL-17A, fibroblasts support the proliferation and maturation of CD34⁺ hematopoietic progenitors into neutrophils.
IL-17A regulates NF-κB and MAP kinase pathways and enhances COX-2 and nitric oxide production.
