Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against purified and partially purified Protein A (Staphylococcus aureus), anti-Goat IgG, and anti-Goat Serum. Cross-reactivity against Protein A from other sources is unknown.

Target Information

Protein A is an Orphan-U GPCR with an unknown ligand. It was identified from genomic analysis of a gene-dense region at human chromosome 12p13. It appears to be expressed mainly in the brain, though its function remains unknown. Three alternatively spliced variants have been described; the full length of the third variant is yet to be determined.
