SQSTM1 유전자는 유비퀴틴 결합 및 NF-κB 신호전달 경로 활성화를 조절하는 다기능 단백질을 암호화합니다. TNF 수용체 관련 인자 6과 함께 작용하여 상류 신호에 대한 NF-κB 활성화를 매개하며, 다양한 전사체 변이형이 보고되어 있습니다. 해당 유전자 돌연변이는 산발적 및 가족성 파제트병(Paget disease of bone)과 관련이 있습니다.
