Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron transporting protein located in the intermembrane space of mitochondria, playing a critical role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimuli, cytochrome C is released into the cytosol, where it binds to apoptotic protease activating factor, activating procaspase 9 and subsequently caspase 3, a key effector in apoptosis.
