This monoclonal antibody is directed against the 6X His motif and is useful for detecting over-expressed proteins containing the His tag. It reacts with all His-tagged proteins tested and shows no cross-reactivity with endogenous bacterial proteins. The antibody recognizes His-tag sequences fused to either N- or C-termini of target proteins in transfected or transformed cells.

Target Information

The 6X His tag is a synthetic peptide composed of six consecutive histidine residues (HHHHHH). It is commonly used at N- or C-terminal regions of recombinant proteins for purification via immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC).
His-tagged proteins bind strongly to Ni²⁺-NTA adsorbents, enabling efficient purification. His tag-specific antibodies facilitate detection or co-immunoprecipitation of tagged proteins when no specific antibody for the target protein is available.
