Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Suggested positive controls: prostate or lung squamous cell carcinoma.
Target Information
SOX2 is an intronless gene encoding a member of the SRY-related HMG-box (SOX) family of transcription factors.
It regulates embryonic development and cell fate determination, and is essential for stem-cell maintenance in the central nervous system.
SOX2 also regulates gene expression in the stomach and lies within an intron of SOX2 overlapping transcript (SOX2OT).
SOX2 protein may act as a transcriptional activator after forming complexes with other proteins.
Mutations in SOX2 are associated with bilateral anophthalmia, optic nerve hypoplasia, and syndromic microphthalmia.
