This antibody detects endogenous levels of SP1 only when phosphorylated at Threonine 453.


Target Information

SP1 is a transcription factor that can activate or repress transcription in response to physiological and pathological stimuli. It binds with high affinity to GC-rich motifs and regulates the expression of numerous genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis, differentiation, and immune responses. SP1 activity is highly regulated by post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation, sumoylation, proteolytic cleavage, glycosylation, and acetylation. It also binds the PDGFR-alpha G-box promoter and may modulate the cellular response to DNA damage. SP1 is implicated in chromatin remodeling and plays a role in recruiting SMARCA4/BRG1 to the c-FOS promoter, as well as regulating FE65 gene expression.
