Mouse anti-sheep CD25, clone 9.14 recognizes the ovine homologue of human CD25, also known as interleukin-2 receptor alpha chain (IL-2Rα).
This single-pass type I membrane protein is expressed by activated ovine T cells.
Target Information
CD25 (IL2 receptor alpha chain, IL2RA) is a cytokine receptor involved in the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes.
The receptor complex consists of IL2RA, IL2RB, and IL2RG, forming a high-affinity IL2 receptor.
- Homodimeric IL2RA: low-affinity receptor
- Homodimeric IL2RB: medium-affinity receptor
IL2 expression in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, allowing precise gene regulation.
IL2 is primarily produced by mature T cells and functions as a growth and differentiation factor, regulating cell death.
It stimulates B cell proliferation, enhances NK cell activity, and inhibits granulocyte macrophage colony formation.
Disruption of a similar gene in mice leads to ulcerative colitis-like disease, indicating a role in immune response regulation.
Mutations in IL2RA are associated with interleukin-2 receptor alpha deficiency.
