Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes an extracellular epitope involving residues 534–546 in cysteine-rich repeat 3 of the CD18 antigen (integrin beta2 subunit). CD18 is a 90–95 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on all leukocytes.
It does not cross-react with canine.
Endotoxin level is less than 0.01 EU/µg of protein (LAL test).
Western Blot: non-reducing conditions; Functional Application: Induction.
Target Information
CD18 (integrin beta 2 subunit) is a 90 kDa type I transmembrane protein expressed on all leukocytes. It forms heterodimers with CD11 molecules (CD11a–d) to constitute leukocyte (β2) integrins, including:
- αLβ2 (CD11a/CD18, LFA-1)
- αMβ2 (CD11b/CD18, Mac-1, CR3)
- αXβ2 (CD11c/CD18)
- αDβ2 (CD11d/CD18)
These integrins are essential for leukocyte migration and intercellular adhesion.
Defects in the CD18 gene cause leukocyte adhesion deficiency type I (LAD1).
CD18 is also targeted by Mannheimia haemolytica leukotoxin, mediating cytolysis.
Two transcript variants encoding CD18 protein have been identified.
