Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with CD16+ granulocytes and can be used for mapping CD16-158V/F polymorphism on NK cells, requiring presence of V at amino acid 158.

  • Western Blot: Non-reducing conditions
  • Functional Application: Blocking

Target Information

CD16 encodes a receptor that recognizes the Fc portion of immunoglobulin G and is involved in clearance of immune complexes and functions such as cellular mediated cytotoxicity and enhancement of virus infections.
The gene FCGR3A shares high similarity with FCGR3B, located on chromosome 1.

  • FCGR3A: Expressed on NK cells (integral membrane glycoprotein via transmembrane peptide)
  • FCGR3B: Expressed on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (anchored via phosphatidylinositol linkage)

Mutations in FCGR3A are associated with:

  • Immunodeficiency 20
  • Susceptibility to recurrent viral infections
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Alloimmune neonatal neutropenia

Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
