Target Information
ATP5S (ATP synthase subunit S) is a 215 amino acid mitochondrial inner membrane protein belonging to the ATP synthase subunit family. It is involved in regulation of mitochondrial membrane ATP synthase and is necessary for H⁺ conduction of ATP synthase. The ATP5S gene encodes a subunit (factor B) of the proton channel essential for energy transduction in ATP synthase complexes.
This gene is conserved across multiple species including chimpanzee, canine, bovine, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and mosquito, and maps to human chromosome 14q21.3.
