PPFIBP1 (PPFIA binding protein 1, also called as liprin-β1) encodes the protein that belongs to the LAR (leukocyte common antigen-related) family of transmembrane protein-tyrosine phosphatases and may involve with the focal adhesion disassembly. It is a cytosolic protein involved with the axon guidance and mammary gland development. It is composed of an extracellular regions with three N-terminal Ig-like domains and fibronectin type III-like domains. Broadly, liprins are classified into two types: α-liprins and β-liprins. Both the types conjugate to form homodimer via their N-terminal, coiled coil regions.
