The gene BST1 (bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1) is mapped to human chromosome 4p15. It belongs to the CD38 (cluster of differentiation 38) gene family, and the encoded protein is a member of the NADase (NAD⁺ glycohydrolase)/ADP-ribosyl cyclase family.
The BST1 gene encodes a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored protein. It is expressed in myeloid, endothelial, and mesothelial cells as well as in epithelial ovarian cancer cells.
