In this plasmid the hygromycin resistance gene is regulated by the minimal CMV promoter giving low level expression in most mammalian cells. An MCS upstream of the promoter enables simple introduction of additional regulatory elements to provide responsiveness (for example) to cell-associated transcription factors or to externally-applied stimuli such as doxycycline. In this way a range of sophisticated constructs can be prepared that provide hygromycin resistance only under specific conditions.

Promoter Expression Level: This plasmid contains the minimal CMV immediate early promoter with a multiple cloning site immediately upstream that allows transcription factor binding sites to be inserted. This allows tissue specific or physiologically responsive promoters to be created.
