Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. These antibodies combine multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies to deliver both the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies and the specificity of monoclonal antibodies, with the consistency of recombinant production.

They recognize multiple epitope sites on the target, providing higher detection sensitivity for low-abundance targets. Each lot is produced with a known mixture of light and heavy chains, eliminating biological variability common in polyclonal antibody production.

Smooth Muscle Actin belongs to the actin family of highly conserved proteins involved in cell motility, structure, and integrity.

• Alpha actin is a major component of the contractile apparatus.
• Beta and gamma actins regulate cell motility.
• Smooth muscle actin (alpha actin) is found in skeletal and smooth muscle and plays roles in contraction, motility, and cytokinesis.
• Found in smooth muscle vessel walls, gut wall, myometrium, and myoepithelial cells of breast and salivary glands.
• Defects in the gene cause familial thoracic aortic aneurysm type 6.
• Alpha-smooth muscle actin is abundant in vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells and appears in fibroblastic stress fibers during wound healing and fibrocontractive diseases.
• Multiple alternatively spliced variants are known.
