Target Information
IRF9 is a transcription factor essential for antiviral immunity. It mediates signaling by type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β). Upon IFN binding to receptors, TYK2 and JAK1 kinases are activated, leading to phosphorylation of STAT1 and STAT2. IRF9 associates with phosphorylated STAT1:STAT2 to form the ISGF3 complex, which translocates to the nucleus and binds to IFN-stimulated response elements (ISRE) to activate antiviral gene transcription.
